Beginner-friendly? yeah!

The good: Lemaitre's "1749" EP is a classic that holds up to this day. Infused with bouncy production and inspiring vocals and a whole load of swagger, "1749" bounds through its tracklist like someone who's rediscovered what it means to be alive. And Lemaitre sure pack a bunch of life into this thing, intense basslines and ostentatious trumpets and all, bringing forth powerful emotion and anthemic vocal hooks and genuine production that interacts wonderfully with the vocals for a polished, consistent 5-track-long tracklist. Yeah, this is groovy.

The bad: Honestly, not much to put here. I think a couple of sections could have packed a little more punch on the production side, or could have been more dynamic on the production side, but it's hard to take away credit from "1749" as a holistic experience.

Name Comments Superlative
Not Too Late Not massive on the vocal but it has a great uplifting quality to it, the trumpet has swagger and the production is full Upbeat
Stepping Stone Strong bassline really drives the track along, with a great vocal and lyrical hook — very strong track Standout
Closer Classic tune — swanky leads and polished vocals with lots of rich production and chunky basslines Standout
Day Two Another strong bassline and more uplifting vocals, quite a hopeful track with optimistic lyricism Upbeat
Nishio 2 Just kind of a happy, sparkly finisher — very much enjoy the tonality, even if I'm not huge on the vocal Fun
