The biggest name in colour bass, Chime's "Between" is his proclamation of completeness for his current style of production. This is its final clause.

The good: "Between" hosts the colour-infused Chime that, at this point, we're all too familiar with. With a more minimal riddim-leaning edge to it, this EP is still melodic and bright in all the right ways, but with an edge of heaviness from the stompier genres of dubstep in the scene.

The bad: Nothing in this EP actually feels new. I suppose that makes sense for a sendoff project, but it feels like "Between" is simply the final reiteration of this style, rather than its final form.

Name Comments Superlative
Scary Pretty Paradox Decent vocal and a nice hook, but Chime really goes off here with some insane colourful stabs and stomping drops Intense
Between Chime's own vocal is actually pretty great, the riddim-leaning drops are simple but I dig the watery sound design Melodic
Control Strong vocal and some softer-feeling riddim, still got that wub and still got that colour but with a softer edge Melodic
Mecha Turbo III The intro has some great ideas but the heavy elements are bit messy and somewhat bland, though the midsection is cool Heavy
Rainbow Rave Parade - VIP The tempo's been sped up a ton on this to transform it into a drum n bass roller, feels a bit underwhelming though Intense
