Returning from a 1 year touring hiatus, Eptic releases an EP that just has himself written all over it.
The good: I love Eptic for his style. The sampling is goofy, the lead sounds are wiggly, the bridges are a little nonsensical, but every tune in here packs a serious punch in one way or another. With some strong collaborators of LYNY, Habstrakt and Space Laces, Eptic's "Darkstar" EP sets all the correct pieces in motion and achieves a spot at the top of the modern bass scene.
The bad: Perhaps some of these sections are a little hard on the ears, and Eptic's style isn't exactly everyone's cup of tea, nor is it particularly deep or emphatic. "Darkstar" simply exists to be impressive and to be fun, and it's great at that, but great at very little outside of that.
Name | Comments | Superlative |
---|---|---|
Light Up | Some really goofy sampling and this insane wiggly dynamic lead that switches for the second drop | Standout |
Alone | Pretty much a Habstrakt bass house tune with Eptic stylistics, a ton of fun and super polished to match | Fun |
Crash Out | Absolutely crushing dubstep that slams down again and again with a growly yet crisp sound to it | Heavy |
Revenge | Growly tune that has Eptic written all over it, with crazy buildups and screechy drops; good fun and very dynamic | Intense |
Forcefield | Strong lead line and a couple of really nice elements with a bit of a comparatively minimal feel to it | Standout |
