Beginner-friendly? probably not, pretty intense
The elusive JAWNS has always has a distinct style within bass music, acidic and hard-hitting. This EP is nothing but that.
The good: For better or for worse, this style is what dominates this entire tracklist from start to finish. It's aggressive, it's intense, it's good fun, and the sound design is well done.
The bad: I worry that "Dogwater" can get a little bit repetitive in terms of ideas. Though the rhythms differ between tracks, it's just not quite enough to keep me interested.
Name | Comments | Superlative |
---|---|---|
Damager | Stabby bass cut with some crunchy mixes, and the breakdowns/buildups complement the drops really well | Intense |
rawdo66 | A track dominated by its acidic leads, the techno switch is really strong but the rest of the track feels a bit messy | Intense |
Deadweight | A really fun tune with the sampling, alongside layered sound design and some strong breakdowns | Standout |
Hertz Donut | Punchy and somewhat acidic, and just generally quite a heavy finisher - a bit repetitive in the grand scheme of the EP though | Intense |
