Beginner-friendly? maybe?
The good: Underground drum n bass talent Vici puts out his three-track EP on Neksus Sound, and it's far better than I expected. Despite being just three tracks, Vici shows us why he deserves a stake in the modern DnB scene, and I think I'm fairly convinced. Clean, energetic production and hints of neurofunk — enough deep complex production to call it neuro, I'd say — Vici moves smoothly through his "Glitch" EP.
The bad: I mean, it's three tracks long, not much to say here. At times there are some poorly thought out musical choices, and even if the style of production of the title track "Glitch" and "Henchman" mesh with me really well, "Pathogenic" not so much — and even the vocals on the title track aren't for me.
Name | Comments | Superlative |
---|---|---|
Glitch | Not huge on the vocals but the flow of the DnB is very good and the production is clean | Standout |
Henchman | Wonderfully funky neurofunk (ironic, right?) with a nifty little sample thrown in and very carefree production | Fun |
Pathogenic | Well-produced neurofunk with some neat basslines and a lead I'm not a huge fan of, but it works | Intense |
