CHYL has found her place in the Monstercat roster, and she's also found her niche in pioneering speed house with her racing aesthetic that's really showcased here.
The good: Well, the production is strong, and the vocals are strong, each in their own right. "Pretty Race Girl" hosts catchy, strong leads, and plenty of good vocals to match. The collaborators all bring their own styles, but ultimately I come to this EP for CHYL's speed house style that grows more and more iconic by the day.
The bad: Whilst the core of the style is intrinsically well-done, I can't help but feel like some of the production on this is a little uncohesive. Many of the energetic speed house drops feel like they don't entirely fit with the verses — whether that's because of the overtly enthusiastic speed house, or because of the more tonally alternative verses — and that means "Pretty Race Girl" ends up being a little inconsistent.
