In short: "a vocalist turns to chill house for solace"

Rating: 75

Cohesiveness: 70

Track quality: 79

Beginner-friendly? for sure

ALLKNIGHT is the alias of vocalist Jodie Knight, and this EP sees her embarking on her own little journey in a solo project.

The good: ALLKNIGHT's production is just as good as her vocals — and her vocals are very good. An experienced singer in the game, ALLKNIGHT mingles her voice with some downtempo production, and it was always going to be that voice that would be the highlight of "Should've Known Better". But what makes this project so good is Jodie's production, hitting a darker, more melancholic side of chill house that pertains well to the overall mood of this EP.

The bad: "Should've Known Better", as many EPs in this genre, risks sounding a little homogeneous in its melodic house production.

Name Comments Superlative
Should've Known Better Hook is nice, the melodic house is very clean and the mix is well-done — very nice opener Laid-back
Sunflower More of a vocal-dominated track and I appreciate that, progression feels a bit muffled but clean nonetheless Emotive
Need You Now Beautiful lead synth and the vocal flits across the liquid breakbeat production fantastically Standout
Home The different movements are pretty great, with the builds and release of tension — vocals are also as good as ever Emotive
