Beginner-friendly? not with this intensity
The flow demon himself, Dyatic comes off of his well-received debut album with another EP, to which he takes a slightly different approach.
The good: "The Point Between Rage & Serenity" strikes a balance between the belligerence (the rage) Dyatic is typically known for, and a new twinge of melodic leads (the serenity) to accompany his rhythmic arsenal. This EP feels a little more sensible than his previous cuts, trading off the batshit crazy flow for something a little different, which I can always respect. And the stylistic magic touch Dyatic has always had is still visible.
The bad: I'll admit that I do think that Dyatic is best when he emphasizes his penchant for aggressive flows. Whilst I respect that this EP does something different, "The Point Between Rage & Serenity" doesn't quite scratch my itch, but this is still a highly commendable EP for sheer quality. If anything, this section is more of a backhanded compliment as to how high my standards are for this producer.
Name | Comments | Superlative |
---|---|---|
Hansha | A more melodic cut to begin this EP, Dyatic's sampling is still there but the lead steals the spotlight | Melodic |
Apparatt | Powerful kick-snare and some sweet flows, with plenty of lively moments and a more jagged approach to its melodies | Melodic |
Myriad | Nasty heavy drops and superb flow with the energetic sampling and quality sound production | Heavy |
Poor Man's Rose | I do quite like the crunchier sound design here, even if the flows aren't quite as polished as the other tracks | Intense |
Arrythmia | Creative, pushing flows and that crunchy sound design again - powerful finisher to this EP, but a little tired at the end | Standout |
