Beginner-friendly? for sure
Electropop legend Conro is back on Monstercat, but in different form, and this is his second release on his new melodic house alias oncor.
The good: Conro (or, I suppose, oncor) seems to be doing well in the downtempo sphere, and the "where did you go" EP is his gander into melodic house. I do think it's a little stronger than his first A/B release on this project, for its polished textures and more tasteful integrations of Conro's vocal (which was already very good to begin with), and so this is a promising start (or, I suppose, second release, but my point still stands).
The bad: I still find this project a little linear. It has its ups and downs, but I suspect Conro has a few more tricks up his sleeve for this oncor alias that he has yet to pull out — but I kind of wish he pulled them out for this EP.
Name | Comments | Superlative |
---|---|---|
where did you go | Simple, muted vocal, and some lovely relaxed stutter house drops that feel bouncy and chill at the same time | Standout |
inner you | Conro's vocal is a little more pronounced, the melodic house production is pretty linear but nice | Melodic |
still searching | Simple atmosphere and simple vocals, doesn't do too much but has some nice plucky moments | Laid-back |
